Mini 3D Vacuum Heat Press PD2800

PD2800 is a small compact 3D press with bottom and top heating, where you can print mugs, thermoses, etc. using a silicone wrap or shrink film. Inside the press there is a small fan that drives the air, thus ensuring a more even temperature in all areas of the press.

The press is also equipped with a compressor, i.e. objects can be printed by extracting air (vacuum) from silicone sleeves that press the sublimation paper onto the printed object, 2 sleeves are included in the delivery.

The press has a lower removable plate that connects to the air extraction and a replaceable silicone membrane on the top lid for printing on uneven flat objects such as plates, sublimation stones, etc.

The press also comes with a small iron that can be removed and used to print textiles, mouse pads or sublimation sheets externally.

The press has simple controls with preset data for printing individual typical items - mugs / T-shirts / plates.

Max object dimensions (heating only): 24 x 15 x 10 cm
Max object dimensions (vacuum sealing): 23 x 22 x 3 cm

Open the box with the press. The press is quite tight in the box, i.e. it is best to turn the box upside down and slide the press out.

At the bottom (now on top) is a plastic iron pad that is used to place the hot iron on while printing.
Put the pad aside and unpack the press

Press the shiny metal button on the front panel of the press to open the top cover of the press. Remove the cardboard box with accessories

Flip up the plate (in the direction of the arrow) to print the plates - the protective gloves are stored in the plate, see the picture below.

Put the plate and gloves aside.

Now remove the lower iron, which is turned with the plate facing upwards in the press, because in normal operation it provides the bottom heating of the press. First remove the black perforated metal sheet from the bottom and hold the iron by the 2 rubber green segments and pull the iron upwards -
be careful not to damage the impeller inside the press !
The picture below shows the entire unpacked assembly, below it the contents of the box with accessories:

2 x silicone wrap for standard mugs
2 x silicone sleeve for mugs / thermoses
1 x silicone hose for connecting to the compressor
1 x replacement silicone membrane
1 x silicone strap
1 x self-adhesive plastic power cord holder
1 x power cord - power supply to the press

If you remove the iron from the press, the power cord does not fold back properly under the iron handle, therefore = when inserting the iron, pull the power cord away from the press and wrap it around the self-adhesive plastic holder (part of the accessory), see the picture below .

Turning on the press for the first time

1  Connect the power cord to the press - the START button will light up on the OLED display,
you are in standby mode, the press is not yet started

2
Check the press settings to see if you have the correct temperature scale set - if you see Celsius degrees
°C  on the display, you don't need to do anything (at EU).

Celsius / Fahrenheit change
Press and hold the SET UP button for about 6 seconds until °C or °F appears and simultaneously press the PLUS and MINUS buttons. By pressing the PLUS / MINUS buttons, you can set the desired scale, what you leave displayed on the display will be automatically saved in memory.

If you hold down the
START button, the press will turn on and according to the pre-selected mode
T-SHIRT(a) / T-SHIRT(b) / PLATE / 1-MUG / 4-MUG it will immediately (within 5 seconds) heat the lower and upper plates (when selecting T-SHIRT only the lower plate - iron)

If you hold down the
START button for about 3 seconds while the press is on, the press will turn off again (it will enter sleep mode).

It takes about 7 minutes to heat the press to the selected temperature, so before you start the press, it is advisable to prepare the object to be printed with the sublimation paper already attached. Now we will describe printing according to the individual press modes.

At the beginning of using the press, when the press is completely new, we recommend operating the press in a ventilated area for the first day.

 CERAMIC MUG PRINTING  mode  1-MUG  /   4-MUG

1  Print a mirror image on sublimation paper - you must use special sublimation ink !

2  Stick the picture with at least 2 small pieces of self-adhesive (heat-resistant) fixing tape
3  Pull the sublimation paper to the mug either with a silicon wrap or shrink wrap. The press comes with 2 clips, if you are printing not only standard mugs, which are in the picture, you can choose here:

SILICONE WRAPS

HEAT SHRINK BAGS

Note: please insert a thin Teflon (or baking paper) between the sublimation paper and the silicone wrap so that the sublimation ink does not get absorbed into the thin silicone wrap, which could subsequently stain your ceramics. For longer use, please leave the silicone wrap alone in the press at 220°C so that the residual sublimation ink evaporates from the wrap

4 Turn on the press by pressing the START button, press the SETUP button once and then press the
PLUS / MINUS buttons several times until only 1-MUG remains lit.

5
The press is heating up and the upper and lower heating indicators are flashing.
In this mode, the press has a preset value, however, based on our testing with
orca / unmarked mugs,
set these values (testing carried out with EPSON T49N sublimation ink..

CERAMIC MUGS / ENAMEL MUGS

TOP HEAT           210 ->
220 °C
BOTTOM HEAT   220 °C (the preset value is correct)
TIME                    700 ->
900 sec

TOP HEATING - TEMPERATURE SETTING

Press the SETUP button twice, the preset value 210°C and the upper heating icon will flash at the same time
Press the PLUS button to increase the value to 220°C and wait a moment until the value is saved in memory (it will stop flashing)

If you press the SETUP button 3 times, you can set the bottom heating, which is not necessary in our case - the factory preset value is OK.

TIME SETTING

Press the SETUP button 4 times, the preset time value of 700 seconds flashes.
Use the PLUS button to increase the value to 900 and wait a moment until the value is saved in memory (it stops flashing).

6 During the adjustment, the press heats up, which is indicated by the flashing icons of the bottom and top heating.
Wait until the press is ready - which is indicated by an acoustic signal (the press beeps) and both heating indicators stop flashing at the same time
Open the press lid, place the mug/mugs in the press using gloves and close the press lid again
Attention - there is a propeller at the back left

7  Start the printing process - press the START button twice, which turns on the fan inside the press and at the same time the indicator on the START button rotates, the set printing time gradually counts down on the display

After the printing is finished, an acoustic signal will sound again (the press beeps), press the
START button once and you can open the press. If you want to remove the mugs from the press immediately and not wait for them to cool down a bit, take some insulating material with you in your gloves, because the mugs are heated to a temperature of 200°C.

The press remains on (heats) and waits for the next object to be printed - if you insert it, you only need to start the printing process by pressing the
START button once.

If you want to stop working - hold down the
START button and the press will turn off

TRAVEL MUG / THERMOS PRINTING  mode  1-MUG

Printing a thermos / travel mug is the same as printing a ceramic mug, see detailed procedure above.
For metal items that we offer, set the press

TOP HEAT
 205 °C
BOTTOM HEAT
205 °C
TIME
  600 sec

Pressing the sublimation paper onto the thermos can be done with a silicon wrap / shrink film / silicone sleeve, see fig.

If you use a silicone sleeve - place the thermos with the picture already glued into the sleeve and close the top of the sleeve.
After reaching the final temperature on the press, open the lid and place the thermos into the press, insert the silicone tube back into the compressor (see picture) and press the VACUUM button on the open top lid, which will start the compressor and the sleeve will start to shrink onto the thermos
Attention - if the sleeve is much larger than the thermos, make sure that the fold that is created on the sleeve does not go over the image, if this happens, you will have a mark on the print in this place

Everything else is the same as when printing a ceramic mug

PLATE / STONE  PRINT   mode PLATE

Insert the silicone bottom plate for printing plates into the press - the air extraction hole must be at the back right so that the silicone tube does not get into the propeller. Insert the tube into the hole at the back (see arrow).

Use the SETUP button and then PLUS / MINUS to select PLATE mode, the press has a preset value for this option, however, based on our testing,
set these values:

PLATE ø 20cm

TOP HEAT            210 -> 220 °C
BOTTOM HEAT    220 °C
TIME                     420 -
> 600 sec

When the press is at the set temperature, place the plate (stone) in the press, close the press and press VACUUM.
After about 10 seconds, when the silicone membrane is pressed against the plate (the compressor slowly stops), start the countdown with the
START button

Tip: Place a thin layer of Teflon (baking paper) on a plate over the fixed image so that the sublimation ink cannot get through the sublimation paper and stain the silicone top membrane. If you are printing sublimation stones, the Teflon protects the membrane itself from being cut (if the stone has sharp corners).

After the process is finished, the press remains on (warms up) and waits for the next object to be printed - if you insert it, you only need to start the printing process by pressing the
START button once.
If you want to stop working - hold down the
START button and the press will turn off

We have also tested the printing of sublimation stones, we recommend smaller stones up to 15x15 (max 15x20) cm
( again, place a piece of teflon or something like that under the stone so that the lower silicone bed does not get dirty)

SUBLIMATION STONES

TOP HEAT            220 °C

 TEXTILE PRINTING   mode  T-SHIRT (A)  /    T-SHIRT (B)

Remove the iron upwards from the press by holding the 2 green segments, which are then inserted into the sides of the iron handle

Place the iron (dimensions 20 x 20cm) on a plastic mat and select the T-SHIRT (B) PLATE mode using the SETUP button and then PLUS / MINUS. The press has a preset value for this option, however, based on our testing,
set these values:

TEXTILE - sublimation t-shirt printing

TOP HEAT            off
BOTTOM HEAT    180
°C -> 210 sec
TIME                     60 sec

Place the textile on the cushion (the cushion has dimensions of 31 x 31cm). After heating the press to the desired temperature, place the iron on the sublimation paper, start the countdown on the press by pressing the button on the iron (red arrow) and hold the iron pressed for 1 minute on the T-shirt. After the acoustic signal, press the button on the iron again, place the iron on the plastic tray - the printing cycle is finished, the press remains heated and ready for the next print until you turn it off by pressing the
START button for a longer time.
If the printed image is larger than the iron, you can move the iron sideways, just like when ironing clothes.

UPPER FRAME

On the top lid there is a frame clicked on from below (just below the glass heating plate), on which a silicone membrane is threaded (there is also 1 spare one in the accessories) in case of using a vacuum / compressor.

The frame can be removed by pressing the segment (see arrow) and flipping the entire frame.

When printing mugs / when printing textiles, remove the frame with the silicone membrane.
Putting ONLY the silicone tape (included) around the frame is difficult and, in our experience, unnecessary.
