CX-02 is a A4 printer of the PROFI sublimation printer category.

Company Citizen built the A4 printer based on the CX-02 model, which allowed many common parts to be used and thus keep the printer price reasonable, despite the fact that the A4 printer is produced and sold worldwide by an order of magnitude

The CX-02W printer is only 2kg heavier than the CX-02 model, while maintaining the same printer height/depth and ONLY 47mm wider for the larger image format

It prints high-quality color and black-and-white photos of sizes from 10x20 cm to 20x30 cm with a glossy or semi-matt surface, the printer is suitable for wedding, group, portrait photos.

The printer can also be used outdoors, which is also helped by the printer's acceptable weight of 14 kg

Just like the CX-02 or the smaller CZ-01 printer, it has excellent color rendering (quality ICC cuvres)

QUALITY PRINTING
The printer has surprisingly high-quality color and black-and-white printing, even though it takes about 40 seconds to print an image

From CX2W-812 paper (20x30cm), you can simultaneously print 6 photo formats from 10x20 to 20x30 cm, while only the exact required amount of paper is cut from the paper roll.

Thanks to the multi-layout function, the printer can also save color ribbon by printing (sending to print) 3 different images 10x20 on one 20x30 format or 2 images 13x2 / 15x20 on one 20x30 format, see image

In the WIN printer driver, you can set the desired surface of the printed image

GLOSSY is the classic glossy surface of the photo

 		 UNPACKING THE PRINTER

Open the printer box. Remove the box located at the top, which contains a power cord and  CD with a driver and a manual.

Remove the upper foam fillings first and then the printer itself towards the top. Remove all protective films - packaging materials from the printer

The paper roll holder and ribbon cartridge  are located inside the printer (see below)

 		 CONSUMABLES - PRINT FORMATS

The printer prints on roll paper, when the colors are transferred to the paper by sublimation from a ink sheet ( ribbon), which is heated from above by a thermal head. For one print, you use a piece from a roll of paper for one printou and at the same time 4 fields of ink sheet (yellow, magenta, cyan and lamination layer), i.e. you have constant costs for 1 picture, regardless of the size and amount of colors on the printed image !
         
            
Paper and ink sheet are an integral part of 1 pack of paper, while the printer paper pack contains 2 rolls of paper and 2 ink sheets ( ribbon)  .

 		 INSTALLATION  /  INK SHEET (ribbon)   

Attention : Unpack the ribbon or roll of paper just before installing it in the printer. When unpacking, let them lie down and handle them on the opened packaging material in such a way as to minimize the possibility of dust or any other dirt settling on the paper or ribbon, which subsequently affects the quality of the print !

Remove one ribbon (in white foam) from the CX2W-812 paper package, prepare the ribbon as on the picture
(the ink sheet passes through the upper edge of the shafts)

                                                             

With this printer, the ribbon is inserted into a plastic cassette - if you are installing a new printer, the plastic cassette inside the printer must first be removed from the print unit, see the following picture



WITH THE PRINTER OFF

1. Open the printer - at the bottom (hand in the picture), press the lever upwards and slide the print unit forward towards you, remove the ribbon cassette from the printer diagonally upwards, see top arrow
2.  Remove the pink protective foam from the ribbon cassette, see Figure 2
3.  Grasp the ribbon by the edges of the shafts (please do not touch the ink sheet itself) and push the shafts of the ribbon into the ribbon cassette as far as it will go

4. Make sure that the ink sheet in the cassette is taut (if not, turn one of the spools and slightly tension the ink sheet), then grab the cassette by the handle and slide the whole ribbon diagonally down into the printer - the installation of the ribbon is complete
         
  INSTALLATION  /  ROLL OF PAPER    


Remove one roll of paper from the CX2-XX paper pack. Make sure that the side of the roll is really straight and the threads of the paper are not gathered to the side, if this is the case (due to careless transportation), please level the side of the roll, see picture 
      
                                                                 

Gently slide (toward) the blue lever on the left side of the printer, which will open the top of the print unit
Slide out (vertically upwards) the paper scrap box
Towards the front, take out the black plastic paper holder, pull it apart on the right and left parts

The right and left paper holders have a sprung stem so that you can slide it from the side into the paper roll, see picture.
          

           
WITH THE PRINTER ON

1.  Insert the roll of paper into the printer, remove the fixing sticker and turn on the printer - the switch is located at the bottom right, the POWER LED lights up and the PAPER / ALARM LED starts flashing.
2.  Turn the paper from the roll downwards (under the rolls) until you hear an audio signal - then do not turn the roll anymore.
3. Insert the scrap box from above into the front panel, fold the top part of the printing unit
4. Insert the extended print unit into the printer, which starts the initialization of the printer, i.e. the printer itself cuts 5 white papers = the printer is ready, only the ON / STANDBY LED lights up.

 1  Download the driver
    Download the driver to any folder on the computer you want to connect the printer to. The downloaded driver is zipped CX-02W_Driver.zip, first unzip the driver in the given folder

The printer must be switched on, paper installed in the printer (the paper was cut automatically 3 times after installation), no error messages must be displayed on the printer, and at the same time you must have the front door closed (plastic box for paper scraps)

After connecting the USB cable, WIN will do everything automatically - an icon will be added to the "Printers and scanners" folder

 		 Set Win Driver
   
In the folder "Control panels / All items of control panels / Devices and printers" open with the right mouse button on the Citizen CX-02 icon, see the image on the right

Print preferences - set the printer driver, see next chapter		  

    




 		 ICC / Color Management (for review only)
When installing the WIN / Mac driver, the corresponding ICC curves for the printer will be automatically installed so that the color output corresponds to reality. If you feel that this is not the case, please print the image directly from WIN Explorer, when you are sure that the colors are not changed by the application (e.g. Corel, etc.) from which you are printing.

If you want to make sure that you have the correct ICC assigned to the printer - open the "Control Panel / All Control Panel Items / Devices and Printers" folder and right-click on the Citizen CX-02W icon, see the image on the right

 Printing Preferences / Advanced

When installing the driver, borderless printing, appropriate ICC, color management will be automatically set for you (a detailed description of all functions is available in the driver download - "Download detailed driver description) - please change only the following in this menu :

Paper/Output - Paper Size :
Setting the image format according to the type of paper installed, 8x12 / 20x30cm paper is installed, i.e. you can print the formats listed in the menu, see fig on the right

Format 8x4 / 10x20cm, this format can be printed separately from 20x30 paper, but if you send 3 images to the printer at the same time (e.g. from WIN Explorer), the printer will understand them as multiple-layout printing and print 3 x 10x20 images from 20x30 paper, including cutting the format into three photos.

Analogously, 8x5 / 13x20cm and 8x6 / 15x20cm work, but in this case the printer prints only 2 images

Graphic - Print Quality :
If you are printing a portrait photo or a photo at an event, you can set a different print mode for each

High-speed - fast printing 300 x 300 DPI
High-quality - slower printing 300 x 600 DPI

Printer features - Overcoat Finish :

3 vaious surfaces of the printed image can be set:

Glossy - GLOSS surface
Matte - finely grained MAT surface
Luster - soft satin surface SEMI-GLOSS

Printer features - High density mode :
If you have selected the High-quality print quality, you can also choose High density mode - printing with a higher optical density
* if you check the BORDER option in the printer driver (i.e. disable borderless printing), you can print any exact image size (with a white border) on the installed paper format

Color  :
The driver menu is used for multiple printers, do not use the black and white option - even a black and white photo printed in "Color" has the same quality

Advanced ... is the entry to the extended settings - the same as in the previous menu

Border :
The printer prints borderless photos by default, if you want to print a photo with a white frame or print the exact size of your photo on 20x30 paper, check "Border "(ENABLE is automatically set - identical functions in the "Advanced" menu)

 Sharpness:
 Sharpness adjustment (-2 to +8)
 Color Adjustment
By default, the color rendering of the image is controlled according to the ICC curve, see checked ICM option.
If you are not satisfied with the color output, you have the option to adjust the colors (see the following menu) - in this case, check the last option ICM & Driver (M), when the color of the printout will be governed by ICC and, in addition, by the adjustment you made

If you uncheck the Sync option, you can set all 3 values in individual components of RGB colors (-100 to + 100 )

If you check the "Grey adjustment" option, you can use the "Test Chart print" button to print a test image consisting of gray fields from the cold tone A1 to the warm tone K6.

The test image is printed in 13x20cm format.

From the fields of the test image, select the gray that you consider to be the right neutral gray - the default setting is the F6 field. If you select another field (the selection is confirmed by a blue frame), confirm the selection with the "Apply" button. If you leave the "Grey adjustment" option checked, the printer will follow your choice of gray

If you are printing, for example, wedding photos when the bride is wearing a snow-white dress - this function allows you to fine-tune the color tone regardless of the batch of consumables
